June Brags…
Introducing MACH Tungsten of Lower Mill. I started training for agility in my early 50’s. At one of my first agility trials, a member of our club was celebrating their MACH and when someone explained to me what you had to do to achieve that title, I thought it would never happen to me. Earning this MACH is one of my proudest personal achievements.
But of course, the credit goes to Tungsten. Agility has not been easy for me. I wholeheartedly admit, I am the weak member of the team. Tungsten has put up with a less than a stellar handler. Tungsten (and Nickel) has made me want to improve to be better for them. I love this game. I love the feeling of stepping to the start line and running with my dogs. I love practicing and learning new handling techniques so I can be a better teammate. But most importantly, I love having fun with my boys.
So, after the joy of earning this title, the celebration at the end of the run, the ugly crying on my part (imagine that!), the truly appreciated kind words from many people at the trial and the smile that probably won’t leave my face for weeks, what brought me joy this weekend was seeing how confident Tungsten ran all weekend. He has ring stress that we are working to overcome and this weekend he ran fast, happy and confidently. I am proud of him.
Thanks to anyone and everyone who has supported me in this journey. You have no idea how much your support means to me.

Kitty Poodle is getting a fancy versatility certificate (VC) award from Versatility In Poodles. She needed ten points (3 from her conformation major, 1 from Sire with a CHIC, 5 points for NACSW ELT-3, and 1 point for TKN NTD = TEN). This was possible as a result of Anna’s fun trick workshop! I didn’t think it would be possible for Kitty to get a VC but she did!

The Miniature American Shepherd National Specialty started the week on Monday with agility and Rip had a clean run in Premier JWW. On Tuesday, Team Rip tackled scent. He was entered in containers and exterior and was spot on with a 3rd and 5th place in containers and in the wind and rain he scored a 4th and 6th place in exterior hides. This earned his title in both elements. Wednesday and Thursday was Rally. Rip scored 99, 97, 99 and an 89 (rough judge!) and even earned a 4th place. All of these classes were HUGE and all the same breed and he did not disappoint! Team Rip finished the week with FastCat, his FAVORITE! We are so proud of Dee Rice and the fantastic Rip.
OneWorld Canine Obstacle Run is an approximate 4.5 mile, 30 plus obstacle course through creeks, fields and woods with a true “Heartbreak Hill” included. A number of CDAC members were willing (and maybe a little crazy) competitors with their very athletic canines to run in this rugged sport. Congratulations to all. More pictures to come.
